WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Eric Ayala scored 23 points and 10th-seeded Maryland moved into the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 63-54 victory over UConn on Saturday night.

UConn was held to just 32% shooting to waste a strong night on the boards. The Terrapins were outrebounded by the physical Huskies but used a strong defensive effort to pull off the win. James Bouknight had 15 points and Jalen Gaffney scored 12 for the Huskies, who were back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.
