BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Police in Sussex County are investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Greenwood resident.

According to the Delaware State Police, a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was traveling east on Seashore Highway (SR 404), just west of Polk Road, when for unknown reasons the driver exited the south edge of the road and hit a mailbox. The truck reportedly continued traveling after hitting the mailbox and drove into a ditch bank, struck a culvert pipe, and overturned.

The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old man, was not properly restrained and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The crash is currently under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
