Delaware State Police are investigating whether somebody intentionally threw a street sign into the middle of a road shortly before a driver crashed while trying to avoid it.

The agency said in a statement last week that a truck driver was on a road near Bridgeville when he tried to avoid the sign and overturned into a ditch.

State Police said he suffered serious injuries.

The agency said the sign appeared to have been intentionally thrown into the road before the driver crashed on Thursday night.

Police said two other signs had recently been removed from the ground and thrown into roadways nearby as well.
